Endodontics

Endodontics is a dental discipline that deals with the study and rehabilitation of diseases and injuries inside the teeth – endodontics. Regardless of the type of pathological process, endodontic treatment involves access to the root canal or canals of the diseased tooth.

The composition, shape and diseases of the dental pulp are the field of endodontics, one of the branches of dentistry. This is a microsurgical procedure aimed at healing and saving tooth tissue. The most common cause of dental pulp inflammation is well known to everyone – caries. Advanced tooth decay leads to inflammation and destruction of tooth tissue and eventually leads to nerve inflammation.

Caries is one of the most common dental diseases, and a diseased tooth causes pain; teeth affected by caries are sensitive to “tapping” (or percussion), and the pain that occurs can be of various types (long or short, sharp or pulsating), and sometimes it is accompanied by inflammatory processes on the surrounding tissue of the tooth. Pain as a symptom appears only when caries begins to threaten the nerve, so it belongs to late symptoms. Endodontics involves precise diagnostics, but also cleaning of infected tissue, cleaning of inflamed canals and treatment – to end the process either with fillings or with other types of restorations, depending on the damage done. Adequate and correct endodontics protects and preserves teeth from further damage, inflammation and decay.
